Descroll keeps your information on your phone. This policy explains what Descroll stores and which system services it uses.

Your data stays with you

Descroll has no account system, advertising SDK, analytics SDK or other third-party code. It does not collect, sell, share or track personal information, and it never sends your data to us. Its developer runs no servers that receive your data.

What is stored on your phone

Saved Place names, coordinates and radii, a one-way hash of any Wi-Fi network you link to a Place, opaque Screen Time selection tokens, your time blocks and preferred focus times, what you told Descroll you want more time for, your calendar rules and the times of upcoming events that match them, your daily limits, the website addresses you choose to block, your list of swaps, your preferences, visit times, the moments you write and how they felt, reaches for blocked apps, early unlocks, Emergency ends, and quiz card answers (which cards you got right, to space them out, and the 5-minute openings a right answer gives) are stored locally so the app can apply your rules and show your history and Presence. For an unblock tag, only a one-way hash of its identifier is kept. Screen Time keeps the identity of the apps you select private from Descroll.

Up to 30 of the system's daily performance reports (launch time, freezes, battery, memory and crash details, never Places or moments) are kept for diagnostics, left out of backups and never uploaded; you can share them from Diagnostics if you choose to. To keep widgets current, a small copy of this week's Presence and Key metrics, which can include Health numbers like sleep and steps, is kept in Descroll's shared container on your phone and left out of backups.

All of it is protected by the system's data protection. Moments stay encrypted whenever your phone is locked. You can also lock Descroll with your face, fingerprint or passcode.

System services the app uses

  • Location to detect when you enter and leave your Places. Location stays on your phone and is not used for advertising.
  • Wi-Fi, if you link a network to a Place: the current network name confirms you've arrived indoors. Only a one-way hash of the name is kept.
  • Screen Time to shield the apps you choose, to count the minutes in your daily limits, and to show a privacy-preserving activity summary rendered by the system.
  • Calendar (read only) to show your events next to your time blocks, to suggest blocks that fit around them, to start focus during the events you choose, and to count meetings for Trends. Descroll reads event times and titles on your phone, never changes your calendar, and never sends it anywhere. Event titles are not shown on the block screen.
  • On-device language model (on supported phones) to understand a time block you type. It runs on your phone; nothing you type is sent to us or to any server. Suggested blocks are worked out on your phone from your own focus history.
  • Notifications, all optional: before a block starts and when it ends, before a free trial ends, for your plan if you turn that reminder on, and at most one heads-up a day from Routine while it's on. Never for marketing. Reminders never include calendar event titles, and with the lock on they leave out time block names too. Descroll never notifies you when a Place turns on or off.
  • Lock Screen countdowns to show how long a block has left.
  • Reminders (read only), if you turn it on: Descroll counts what's due today and what you finish each day for Trends. It never adds, edits or completes a reminder and keeps no copy of their titles.
  • Health, only with your permission and only what each connector you turn on needs. Descroll reads sleep, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, steps, time in daylight, workouts and State of Mind to work out Presence and show Trends, and, if you choose, sleep to set your night (the hours left out of your totals). It saves Mindful Minutes only for breathing resets you finish, and State of Mind only when you pick a feeling for a moment. Health data is read on your phone and is never sent anywhere, sold, shared, or used for advertising or marketing. If Health syncs across your devices, what Descroll saves syncs too. You can change what Descroll reads or saves at any time in the Health app.
  • Motion & Fitness, only with your permission, to count steps while you walk to unblock. Steps are counted on your phone, and nothing is kept but whether the walk reached 200.
  • NFC to read an unblock tag. Only a one-way hash of the tag's identifier is stored.
  • Journal suggestions, if you turn it on. The system shows the suggestions; Descroll only sees the one you pick.
  • Focus filters, if you add Descroll to a Focus. The system tells Descroll only that the Focus is on.
  • Battery and time zone, if you turn on Battery or Time zone in Connectors. Descroll keeps only whether each day had low battery or Low Power Mode, or a time zone change.
  • Voice commands and Shortcuts. Actions run on your phone. Your Presence is only read out after you unlock your phone, and Place names are left out of status answers while your phone is locked.
  • Face, fingerprint or passcode, if you turn on the lock in Privacy and data. The system checks your face, fingerprint or passcode; Descroll only learns whether it matched and never receives biometric data.
  • Background refresh to update block reminders and widgets when your calendar changes. It runs on your phone, downloads nothing, and doesn't read Health or your moments. You can turn it off in Settings.
  • In-app purchase for the optional Descroll+ subscription. The store processes payment; Descroll never sees your payment details.

What you share

Descroll sends nothing to anyone unless you share it. Block together shares a block, through the cloud account already on your phone, with the people you invite: its name and time, who joined, and for each person whether their block ran to its end or ended early, or that they left. Never your apps, reaches, Presence or moments. It needs no Descroll account, and we can't read it: the block is kept in the cloud account of whoever started it, and leaving it, deleting it or Delete all data removes it. Without a cloud account, Block together sends only a link with the block's name and time; when that link opens this website, the time is read in your browser from the part of the link after “#”, which browsers never send to a server. Pictures you share from the app are made on your phone; the term picture shows counts and feeling words, never what you wrote.

Your controls

You can turn off any permission in Settings, turn off optional features in Descroll, remove Places, and clear your visit history at any time. In Settings › Privacy and data you can lock Descroll, export everything Descroll keeps as one file, and delete all your data. Deleting the app also removes its local data.

Age

Descroll is made for people 13 and older and is not directed to children. It does not collect personal information from anyone.

Retention

Reaches, early unlocks, unblocks and challenges are kept for 190 days, then removed. Only the 30 newest performance reports are kept. Everything else stays until you remove it, choose Delete all data, or delete the app.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers, and has no forms that send data to us. If you choose an appearance (System, Light or Dark), that choice is saved in your browser only and never sent to us. The contact helper on Support opens your own mail app; nothing is sent from the page.

A Block together invite that opens /together carries the block in the part of the link after “#”, which browsers never send to a server. The page reads it in your browser to show the block, and doesn't store it or send it anywhere.

Like any website, the host that serves these pages may process standard technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, briefly and only to deliver the site and keep it secure.
